Where to Find Winemaking Recipes

If you are interested in making homemade wine, you need the proper equipment and a good recipe. Luckily, you will find all kinds of great winemaking recipes online and in books. These recipes are often geared towards experienced wine makers who already have the supplies ready and know what they are doing. Wine can be made from grapes, apples, almonds, apricots and more. There are hundreds of different recipes for making homemade wine, however beginners may want to start off with a kit that provides everything necessary.

The popular Mr. Beer company has beer making kits as well as winemaking kits. They have three different winemaking kits – Winemake Red, Winemake White and Winemake Select. First, let's take a look at their Winemake Red kit. It contains everything you need for red Shiraz wine including refill ingredients, wine making equipment, accessories, bottles, corks and more. The Winemake White kit is similar except with it you can make a delightful Chardonnay. The Winemake Select Kit has twice as much included as the red and white kits and makes 24 bottles.

These types of kits have the ingredients and equipment you need for making your own wine. If you don't want to use a kit and want to experiment with some of the more exotic wines, there are recipes galore on the Internet. You can find them by doing a search engine query. To narrow down the field, you may want to type in the exact type of wine you want to make, for example red or white. You might even want to try making mead, an ages old beverage often called honey wine. Wine can be made from many different ingredients other than grapes, for example you have probably heard of dandelion wine.

Books are also a great source of winemaking recipes. There are countless titles on the market on the subject of homemade wine. Several books you may want for your home library include Winemaking: Recipes, Equipment, and Techniques for Making Wine at Home by Stanley F. Anderson and Dorothy Anderson, 101 Recipes for Making Wild Wines at Home: A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Herbs, Fruits, and Flowers by John Peragine and The Home Winemaker's Companion: Secrets, Recipes, and Know-How for Making 115 Great-Tasting Wines by Gene Spaziani and Ed Halloran. Books like these can keep you busy for months or even years experimenting with different recipes for various types of wine.
