Resources for Homebrewers
There are many available resources for homebrewers to take advantage of. For example, there is an association just for those who brew their own beer at home. This association provides a community, its own magazine, online articles, competitions and much more. If you are serious about brewing beer at home or want to become that way, association membership can be helpful. You can learn a lot from not only the association but the other members. If you are not quite ready to join an association you can still find a plethora of home brewing information online and in books.
One of the most helpful resources for newbies to the world of homebrewing are kits. These kits contain everything that is needed to brew beer, including the hops, malted barley and yeast. You will need to add filtered water and follow instructions to the letter. Beginner brewing kits also contain detailed step by step information that tells you what to do from start to finish. And, they sometimes also come with recipe books so you can try different blends. There are literally hundreds of beer recipes out there.
With a home brewing kit you can make all kinds of beer, including stout, ale, pale ale, lager and more. If you don't currently have a favorite beer it can be a lot of fun finding one, especially when you make it yourself. There are beers infused with fruit flavors, those that are light and crisp, and those that are dark and heavy. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to beer and when you home brew your own you can have it just the way you like it.
As mentioned earlier, homebrewers can find lots of information in books. There are titles available for everyone from the beginner to the advanced brewer. A few titles you may want to check out include but are not limited to the following: The Brewmaster's Bible by Stephen Snyder, The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing by Charlie Papazian and Clonebrews: Homebrew Recipes for 150 Commercial Beers by Mark and Tess Szamatulski. These are only a sampling of the many informative books written on the subject of brewing your own beer. You may want to start a library of beer brewing how-to books and recipe books just in case you need them.
